Q: What are stock options?

A:

Stock options provide employees with the opportunity to purchase a predetermined number of company shares at a pre-established "strike price". This provides an incentive for the employee to work in a manner to improve the company overall performance and associated stock price. Normally, stock options are "vested" over a period of time. This incents the employee to stay with the company for an extended period of time.
